Field Technical Support Manager

Peterson has an open position for the Field Technical Support Manager. The Field Technical Support Manager serves the sales and engineering departments by utilizing their technical background to identify customer needs and engineering adaptations of Peterson products as well as providing technical field support, technician training, and troubleshooting for company products, both Peterson and Maxi-Seal. Acts as initial field service contact for fleet and OEM customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Serves as liaison between Sales and Design Engineering
• Updates and maintains troubleshooting and other sales-related technical documents
• Develops new and improves current troubleshooting and service materials
• Provides field training for current and prospective users of both Peterson and Maxi-Seal products
• Attends initial installations of new products at both Fleet and OEM facilities
• Provides field support for Maxi-Seal Engineering for new or updated wiring harness applications
• Performs other sales and service duties as assigned

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

• Demonstrate capability in solving complex technical problems.
• The ability to coordinate with multiple departments to design and implement solutions.
• Successful experience in building strong customer relationships and consistently meeting or exceeding identified goals.
• Detail-oriented and highly organized self-starter with a keen ability to identify and support customers’ needs.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of an organization.
• Proven ability to drive the appropriate process from plan to close.
• Ability to quickly gain a broad understanding of company products and services.
• A high degree of technical writing expertise.
• Ability to understand engineering drawings, electrical schematics, prints and other technical documents.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Associate’s degree in a related technical field or equivalent experience.
• 5 years experience in field training activities.
• 5 years experience in field troubleshooting activities.

ENVIRONMENT

Duties are performed indoors at the corporate offices in Grandview, MO, and at customer locations within the designated territory.
Must be able to travel as needed via airplane and/or car within assigned territory, or travel to trade shows, etc.
The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, use stairs or elevators to access offices on other floors of a building, and have the ability to be stationary up to 50% of the time.
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, computer printer, and phone.
The person in this position frequently communicates with others (internal and external) who may have various inquiries, etc. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
Must be able to travel via airplane and/or car within the United States and on occasion to foreign countries, as business dictates.
