Assembler – Peterson Manufacturing, Harnesses (AM & PM)

Peterson Manufacturing, Harnesses has an immediate position for a morning and afternoon Assembler. The Assembler performs repetitive bench, board, machine, or line assembly operations to produce cable harness assemblies and operates various types of molding machines. Additionally they perform all duties required for following prescribed methods and procedures and sets up and/or operates wire cutting machine(s) equipped with PLC (Programmable logic computer) controls. The set up of cutting machines is made according to specifications and requirements as contained on each job order. Multiple set-ups and changes to cutting machines are required throughout normal operating shift.

ORGANIZATIONAL SUPERVISION, REPORTING AND INTERFACE

This position reports to Production Department Supervisor and works directly with the other members of the Production Team.  Assemblers will also interface with other associates within the Peterson Manufacturing (Harnesses) organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assembles component parts in specified relationship to each other.
• Lays out wires on a prepared board that conforms to customer specifications.
• Performs continuity test after harnesses is completed if it is a tested part.
• May work on a moving line with other team members in an assembly line process forming a completed wiring harness.
• Checks products and operations to ensure that such processes conform to quality requirements.
• Report all defects to supervisor immediately and can be required to rework defective parts as assigned by the supervisor
• Responsible for adhering to all safety regulations and maintaining the work area in a clean and orderly condition.
• Required to perform all necessary paperwork.
• Responsible for the quality and quantity of work performed and using whatever tools and equipment necessary to test quality and quantity.
• Operate various types of molding machines to mold parts and wires, wire assemblies, tubing, loose piece or any other type of materials or configurations as required using whatever tools necessary.
• Work from outlines, verbal instruction, blueprints or other directive materials.
• Responsible for adhering to all safety regulations and maintaining the work area in a clean and orderly condition.
• Mechanically sets up cutting machine(s) by adjusting and/or replacing terminal applicators and other such equipment as necessary, adhering to all required safety procedures.
• Installs the proper color/gauge wire, proper terminals, sets cutting machine(s) to cut wire and strip wire to correct length, and adjust terminal application process as necessary to ensure terminals are properly seated to the wire.
• Maintains all company-required records on a daily shift basis as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• High School education, or equivalent

ENVIRONMENT

• Duties are performed indoors at the corporate offices in Grandview, MO.
• Must be able to perform repetitive, manual assembly/operations that require bending, stooping, and twisting for up to 90% of the time while in a seated or standing position.
• Must be able to lift and transport containers weighing up to 35lbs
• The person in this position frequently communicates with others internally who may have various inquiries, etc.  Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
