Section Supervisor – Mission Plastics North
The Section Supervisor coordinates the machine operations in the assigned section to ensure that proper operating and safety procedures are being followed in order to promote the company’s goal of producing a quality product in a safe and efficient manner. The Section Supervisor is also responsible for the direct supervision of assigned production personnel and in working with them to identify their strengths and weaknesses so that they can be assigned tasks suited to their skill levels and advanced within the system.
ORGANIZATIONAL SUPERVISION, REPORTING AND INTERFACE
The Section Supervisor is under the general direction of the Shift Supervisor. This position interfaces with other production associates.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervising all assigned production activities to ensure that they are being conducted in a cost effective manner consistent with quality standards.
- Completing appropriate paperwork to document production activities and results so the company can evaluate efficiencies and identify potential problem areas.
- Monitoring each machine based on production cards and inspection sheets and taking necessary actions to alleviate production and machine problems to promote product quality and contain costs
- Ensuring that machinery and tooling receive normal maintenance to minimize downtime
- Assisting setup personnel, as needed, to ensure adherence to quality standards and production schedules
- Supervising and directing all machine operators on a daily basis to ensure that production schedules and quality control standards are met
- Assigning, evaluating, and working with associates to assist them with production problems, provide them new opportunities, and enhance their job satisfaction/commitment to the company
- Enforcing all safety procedures/regulations to create a safe environment and minimize company liability
- Recommending equipment changes/modifications to improve operating efficiency and control costs
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Ability to read and interpret blue prints
- Ability to operate/maintain assembly equipment and perform related activities
- Ability to follow complex instructions and effectively supervisor hourly workers
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve injection molding processes and tooling issues
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- High School education, or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with experience in plastics injection molding
- Comprehensive knowledge of equipment/manufacturing processes used by the company
ENVIRONMENT
- Duties are performed indoors throughout the general production area.
- Employee must be able to move throughout the production floor to required works stations.
- Employee would occasionally move, transport, position, or install objects.
- Employee would occasionally ascend or descend onto machines and at times retrieving objects from floor level or working at floor level.
- Employee would occasionally position oneself to maintain, inspect, or install objects or equipment.
- Employee would occasionally be required to perform tasks at or above shoulder level and at times away from the body, occasionally with the use of tools.
- Employee would occasionally be required to work with minute objects to prepare, use, place, or position objects, tools, or equipment.
- Employee would occasionally need to inspect equipment up close or at a distance.
- Employee would need to identify and distinguish colors and determine distances and spatial relationships.
- Employee would occasionally need to access file cabinets and/or operate a computer and/or other office equipment, such as a calculator, copy machine, computer printer, and phone.
- The employee frequently communicates with others for various production needs and must be able to exchange accurate information.
