Manufacturing Engineer

Peterson Manufacturing has an immediate position for a Manufacturing Engineering. The Manufacturing Engineer, under the administrative direction of the Sr. Manufacturing Engineering, coordinates the tooling, equipment, assembly methods, and other related functions to ensure that products are manufactured in the most cost-effective and efficient manner.  In this capacity, the Manufacturing Engineer works closely with Purchasing, Production, and others within the organization.

ORGANIZATIONAL SUPERVISION, REPORTING AND INTERFACE

Position reports to the Sr. Manufacturing Engineering, works directly with Production Supervisors, the Plant Manager, and interfaces with other associates within the Peterson Manufacturing organization at all levels.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Procuring and maintaining tooling, fixturing, and equipment used to produce products
  • Recommending design changes to Engineering for standardization of tooling, cost savings, and improved quality
  • Supplies Engineering with assembly and material quotes on new projects
  • Keeping abreast of new developments, techniques, materials, equipment, and processes relevant to the production of company products
  • Serving as a liaison to Manufacturing to improve methods and tooling
  • Reviewing and refining plant layout to provide an efficient use of space and an efficient product flow
  • Performs time studies for updating Labor Reporting System
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Must have an above-average ability to deal with complexity
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Effective at presenting technical information, as well as the ability to convey ideas through sketches and drawings
  • Must have demonstrated initiative, self-motivation, and leadership
  • Must have the ability to work effectively with limited direct supervision or guidance
  • Must be able to work independently and within a team
  • Must be detail oriented and organized
  • Must be able to work on many different projects at one time

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • B.S.- Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering with mfg. experience, or equivalent with advanced training preferred
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of direct manufacturing experience with increasingly responsible engineering assignments
  • Electrical and/or Automation experience would be a plus
  • Experienced with SolidWorks, AutoCad, and Microsoft Office Products

ENVIRONMENT

  • Duties are performed out of Peterson Manufacturing’s offices and manufacturing facilities
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time and be able to occasionally move about inside the office and manufacturing facilities
  • Must be able to communicate with others (internal and external) and must be able to exchange accurate information in all situations
