Maintenance Specialist
Peterson Manufacturing has an immediate position for a Maintenance Specialist. This position repairs and maintains machinery, mechanical equipment, buildings, and fixtures. They also supervise and train other maintenance personnel, plan all aspects of assigned projects, and order the needed materials for completion of assigned projects. Maintenance Specialists are also required to serve on the Haz-Mat team and be on call in order to respond to hazardous situations.
ORGANIZATIONAL SUPERVISION, REPORTING AND INTERFACE
This position reports to the Director of Corporate Maintenance and works directly with the Production Supervisors, Assemblers, and other members of the Maintenance team. The Maintenance Specialist position will also interface with other associates within the Peterson Manufacturing organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conceptualizing complex projects and preparing project designs
- Planning and implementing all phases of a project and verifying satisfactory completion
- Scheduling and training other maintenance personnel and engaging in other supervisory activities
- Ordering materials and evaluating competing materials, equipment, and tools
- Preparing diagrams, blueprints, and specifications for complex projects
- Using a variety of tools and operating specialized equipment
- Troubleshooting and resolving machine/equipment problems
- Constructing, maintaining, and repairing equipment
- Working with operators to analyze inconsistent machine performance
- Serving on the Haz-Mat team and being on call to respond to emergencies
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Strong communication and supervisory/training skills
- Ability to interpret blueprints and schematics
- Technical aptitude and problem solving abilities
- Attention to detail and ability to work with little or no direct supervision
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Mastery of the principles of carpentry, plumbing, electronics, welding, masonry, and machine mechanics, with in-depth, advanced knowledge of one or more area(s) of specialization including PLC (Direct Logic & Do More) and Robotics (Epson basic program)
- Ability to read blueprints and interpret schematics and other instructions and to complete projects in accordance with the specifications
- Safety training, including the handling of hazardous chemical/wastes and emergency response procedures
- Trades apprenticeship/training, or equivalent
- Have a current valid class “E” Chauffeur license if one is available and successfully complete requisite MDOT training and demonstration requirements
ENVIRONMENT
- Duties are performed indoors at the corporate offices in Grandview, MO.
- Must be able to be in continuous motion, walking, bending, climbing, and lifting for up to 90% of the time
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
- Must be able to work with and around high voltage electricity/equipment
- Occasionally operates manufacturing equipment
- The person in this position frequently communicates with others internally who may have various inquiries, etc. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
