Product Information & Content Specialist

POSITION OBJECTION

The Product Information & Content Specialist, under the direction of the Director of Marketing, is responsible
for overseeing and managing the Product Information Management (PIM) database and the information
contained therein, along with managing the ideation and creation of high-impact product marketing and
technical content. This Associate will serve as the primary contact for providing product data to internal
and external stakeholders while maintaining the accuracy of such data. This role requires both analytical
precision and creativity to ensure product data is accurate, accessible, and engaging to various audiences,
including customers, partners, and internal teams.

ORGANIZATIONAL SUPERVISION, REPORTING, AND INTERFACE

The Product Information & Content Specialist reports directly to the Director of Marketing and works directly with the entire Marketing & Graphics team, along with teams from Engineering, Sales, Purchasing, and Production. This position will also interface with other associates within the Peterson Manufacturing
organization as well as outside vendors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Data and Database Management
    • Manage and maintain accurate, consistent, and enriched product data in the Product Information Management (PIM) system.
    • Ensure all product specifications, descriptions, attributes, assets, and related documentation are current, correct, and optimized for multiple channels (website, catalog, customer partners).
    • Review new Engineering Change Notifications (ECN’s) for information that will require PIM updates.
      Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including product management, engineering, sales, and marketing—to collect, validate, and standardize product data.
    • Support taxonomy development, data governance protocols, and metadata standards within the PIM system.
    • Continuously evaluate and improve the efficiency, accuracy, and usability of the PIM system—identifying ways to streamline workflows, reduce manual input, and enhance how product data is leveraged across the business.
    • Work closely with our website vendor to ensure the PIM system is accurately feeding product information to the website, troubleshooting discrepancies, and providing data or content support as needed to maintain consistency and integrity.
    • Assist with user training, process documentation, and implementing new PIM features or system upgrades.
    • Create and maintain a library of digital product assets (photographs, illustrations, and renderings) for internal and external use.
    • Other duties as assigned.
  • Content Creation
    • Work in collaboration with internal marketing and product management teams to develop a variety of product-related content including but not limited to:
      • Digital and print catalogs
      • Sales bulletins and New Product launch materials
      • Technical bulletins and installation guides
      • Product demonstration and training videos
      • Other content deemed necessary to meet sales and marketing goals and expectations.
    • Coordinate with internal teams and potential external vendors to ensure timely and accurate production of content.
    • Work closely with internal marketing team on content distribution strategies across web, email, and social media to maintain content consistency and accuracy and in accordance with brand standards and tone.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Interface with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, customers, and vendors to discuss potential ne
  • Proven experience with PIM systems (e.g., PDM, Salsify, Akeneo, inRiver, or similar) is strongly preferred, or in the alternative strong history of database management.
  • Proficiency with data organization, Excel, and content lifecycle workflows.
  • Strong writing and editing skills; ability to translate technical information into user-friendly content.
  • Experience with content creation tools (Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, Canva, Camtasia, Final Cut Pro, or similar).
  • Comfortable creating, scripting, and coordinating video content for training, installation, and marketing.
  • Understanding of SEO, metadata, and best practices for digital content publishing.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and time management.
  • Team player with ability to work cross-functionally with technical and non-technical teams.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Database Management, Computer Science, Marketing, or related field.
  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial products, or technical industries is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience

ENVIRONMENT

  • Duties are performed indoors at the corporate offices in Grandview, MO.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time.
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, use stairs or elevators to access offices on other floors of building, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, computer printer, and phone.
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with others (internal and external) who may have various inquiries, etc. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
