Maintenance Fleet Mechanic

Peterson Manufacturing has an immediate position for a Maintenance Fleet Mechanic. The one in this position repairs and maintains vehicles, lift equipment, trailers, and ground equipment. They also work with supervisory personnel to verify that fleet equipment is operating within prescribed parameters and troubleshoot problems as they arise. They have a general mastery of all mechanical fields related to motorized and non-motorized vehicles and can complete projects in accordance with specifications. Maintenance Fleet Mechanic personnel are also required to serve on the Haz-Mat team.

ORGANIZATIONAL SUPERVISION, REPORTING AND INTERFACE

This position reports to the Director of Corporate Maintenance and works directly with the other members of the Maintenance team.  The Maintenance Fleet Mechanic position will also interface with other associates within the Peterson Manufacturing organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operating hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment including VOM meters.
• Troubleshooting and resolving mechanical/electrical equipment problems.
• Interpreting diagrams, blueprints, operations manuals, and specifications.
• Completing repairs in accordance with specifications.
• Performing repairs and preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Working with other personnel to analyze equipment problems.
• Serving on the Haz-Mat team and being on call to respond to emergencies.
• Handle all fluids per EPA guidelines.
• Maintain records of repairs in the maintenance system.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

• Must have the ability to interpret blueprints and schematics
• Must have the ability to follow detailed plans and instructions
• Must have technical aptitude and problem-solving abilities
• Must have attention to detail on all projects
• Demonstrate strong ability to work in a team environment

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• High School Diploma, or equivalent
• Minimum five years’ experience, trades apprenticeship/training certification
• Proven ability to operate hand tools, special service equipment, and meters as necessary
• Knowledge of hydraulics, pumps, and fluid systems
• Experience reading blueprints and interpreting schematics and other instructions to complete projects in accordance with necessary specifications
• Prior safety training, including the handling of hazardous chemical/wastes and emergency response procedures, electrical and arc flash

ENVIRONMENT

• Duties are performed indoors at the corporate offices in Grandview, MO.
• Must be able to be in continuous motion, walking, bending, climbing, and lifting for up to 90% of the time
• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
• Occasionally operates manufacturing equipment
• The person in this position frequently communicates with others internally who may have various inquiries, etc.  Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
