Assembler – Peterson Manufacturing (AM & PM)

Peterson Manufacturing has an immediate position for a morning and afternoon Assembler. An Assembler produces finished or semi-finished products and readies them for shipment to the customer.  The actual assembly work involves the interpretation of the assembly instructions; monitoring and replenishment of component supplies; and both manual and automated assembly operations.  Post-assembly work involves visually inspecting and counting products; packing product in approved containers; and labeling packed containers.

ORGANIZATIONAL SUPERVISION, REPORTING AND INTERFACE

This position reports to the Production Department Supervisor and works directly with the other members of the Production team.  The Assembler will also interface with other associates within the Peterson Manufacturing organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accurately interpreting shop instructions to ensure that all components are assembled properly
  • Loading components into automated workstations and monitoring machine performance
  • Properly using tools such as pneumatic and manual screwdrivers, wrenches, and scales
  • Properly operating sonic welders, automated assembly machines, rivet machines, wire stripping machines, glue, grease, and epoxy machines, staking machines, bagging machines, termination machines, tape machines, drill presses, multi-station presses, and packaging machines
  • Testing and visually inspecting finished product for proper function and appearance
  • Counting and packing product
  • Preparing and applying labels to packing cartons
  • Provide regular and prompt attendance

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Must be able to work independently and within a team
  • Must be detail oriented and organized
  • Possess a cooperative attitude
  • Must be able to multi-task,
  • Must be extremely safety conscious
  • Must have sufficient hand-eye coordination to either manually assemble components or to regulate the operations of an automated assembly machine

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • High School education, or equivalent
  • Basic knowledge of hand and power tools and ability to make simple adjustments

ENVIRONMENT

  • Duties are performed indoors at the corporate offices in Grandview, MO.
  • Must be able to perform repetitive, manual assembly/operations that require bending, stooping, and twisting for up to 90% of the time while in a seated or standing position.
  • Must have sufficient hand-eye coordination to either manually assemble components or to regulate the operations of an automated assembly machine.
  • Must be able to lift and transport containers weighing up to 50lbs
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with others internally who may have various inquiries, etc.  Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
