Director of Corporate Quality Assurance
The Director of Quality Assurance is responsible for establishing a corporate quality assurance system and team that promotes customer satisfaction and that positively impacts the financial performance of Peterson Manufacturing and affiliates. The Corporate Director champions continuous improvement efforts and defect reduction initiatives to establish an effective Quality Management System (QMS).
ORGANIZATIONAL SUPERVISION, REPORTING AND INTERFACE
Position reports to the President/CEO and directly oversees the Quality Departments of Peterson Manufacturing and provides quality system guidance and support to Mission Plastics North and Maxi-Seal Harness. The Director of Corporate Quality Assurance also interfaces with other associates and management teams within the Peterson Manufacturing organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Overseeing the development of quality goals and objectives.
- Developing and maintaining both generalized and plant-specific quality systems that ensure the achievement of the company’s goals and objectives.
- Coordinating customer audits of Peterson’s quality system and overseeing Peterson’s supplier audits.
- Serves as company liaison when customers or vendors are experiencing quality problems.
- Obtaining and maintaining third party quality systems registrations as directed by representatives of the Executive department.
- Conducts internal quality system audits.
- Recruits, trains, and oversees Quality Assurance associates who function as a cohesive team.
- Oversees Quality Assurance activities related to calibration, photometrics, first article inspection, laboratory analysis, general inspection, and control of nonconforming product.
- Administers corrective action process and maintains quality records.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Exemplary understanding and ability to apply Quality Assurance principles.
- Ability to deal effectively with people both internally and externally.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to effectively promote new ideas and concepts.
- Ability to develop and initiate plans for the attainment of short- and long-term goals.
- Willingness to accept responsibility and effectively motivate/direct the activities of others.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- B.S. or equivalent, with emphasis in Engineering or other technical area.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in quality sciences.
- Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience.
- ASQC Certified Quality Engineer preferred.
ENVIRONMENT
- Duties are performed indoors at the corporate offices in Grandview, MO.
- Must be able to sit 50% of the time and stand 50% of the time
- Must be able to regularly walk the length of the entire campus in a timely manner
- The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, use stairs to access offices on other floors of building, etc.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, computer printer, and phone.
- The person in this position frequently communicates with others (internal and external) who may have various inquiries, etc. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
